End the Cuts – Petition

Language Line Solutions has been reducing our work hours without prior notification or proper explanation. Some interpreters saw their paychecks cut by as much as 40%, while others have been furloughed entirely. Considering the low wages we earn at LLS, many of us live paycheck to paycheck, and these reductions in hours jeopardize our livelihoods. The justified frustration of interpreters is met with copy-paste responses from the company that do not give us answers or assurance for our future.
We are contractually prevented from taking other interpreting jobs, yet we are not getting enough hours to live on from Language Line. Many of us need to work the hours we agreed to in our employment contracts. We are expected to fulfil the obligations of our contract, and we expect Language Line to uphold theirs as well.

Examples of protections interpreters at other employers have:
– Partial compensation for cut hours
– “On call” hours, where you get paid regardless whether you work
– •2-week advance notice of schedule changes

We want answers as to why a company that made over a billion dollars in revenue in 2024 alone is refusing to pay workers their full salaries. We are essential workers who are expected to adhere to our schedules and give excellent service to our clients. We deserve respect, job security, and consistent wages.
By signing this letter, you are standing up with your fellow coworkers for your future as an interpreter. Please sign and share to demand an end to hour reductions!
